Here are a number of views of Howard Street. At the time of the murder it would have been humming. The Scottish Fishermen were arriving, the U.S.Army, The U.S.Air Force plus the locals were all mixing here along with prostitutes and other local girls. Howard St has of course changed so much. Bretts was the Blue House then ( I think ) and a local Policeman saw the men leave and get into a Bull Noses Morris at closing time.
Behind me is the Victoria Arcade, to my Left is down to the river and the Post Office.

The Talbot Pub very popular in the 70's.

Three views of Bretts Furniture store. In the 50's I think this ( or Part of it ) was the Blue House Pub. In the first picture, below, the entrance to the Market Row. The Market row and many of it old historic buildings were gutting by fire a few years back. The Rows are a famous part of Yarmouth's history. They run to and from the river and were used to run carts of fish back and fourth.

A couple of the Mariners Pub.

This pub has changed hands a lot over the years, It was the Silver Herring in the 70's.

The Quakers Meeting Hall.

The Great Yarmouth Police Station
